What does the CAP (PLC) offer?
Popular Learning Center
Popular Learning Center
The Centre d'Apprentissage Populaire (CAP) (Popular Learning Center PLC) is an educational space that receives young people who have dropped out of school and are illiterate between the ages of 15 and 20 for a period of 3 years in order to offer them basic training in instrumental learning (Wolof and French) combined with the acquisition of skills in a profession that can facilitate their socio-economic integration and appropriate social protection. At the end of the training, the young people's professional skills are certified by the Department of Professional Examinations and Certification to obtain the state diploma: the CAP (Certificate of Professional Aptitude).
Upgrade
The program of upgrading and support for socio-economic integration through the opening of a CAP (popular learning center) is intended for adolescents excluded from the formal education system in order to offer them a second chance. This program is implemented by ALPHADEV thanks to the financial and technical support of its partner "Terre des Hommes Switzerland".
Opening
Since its opening, the project has already trained two classes of 206 young people, 60% of whom were girls, between 2012 and 2017, and obtained a vocational aptitude certificate (CAP). A 3rdème Class of 60 youth has been in training since January 2018.
Process
This learning process is supported by the establishment of a social safety net, namely: comprehensive health coverage, the establishment of a community bowl. In order to protect learners from abuse, a child protection policy (Keeping Children Safe) is developed and implemented.
